Flocking to the fleet
First tram vehicle is a huge draw for visitors
Fresh from successful track testing in Germany, the first of the fleet of 27 tram vehicles arrived in Edinburgh at the end of April.
- The vehicle has been on public display at the tram stop on Princes Street and has become a hugely popular attraction, with more than 25,000 people visiting in just the first three weeks.
- Each tram is 42.8 metres long, consists of seven modules, can carry 250 people with 78 seats, two wheelchair spaces, with 170 standing, can travel at 30mph on-street and up to 45mph on off-street sections.
- The full fleet will travel 5,500km each day once operational and carry around 40,000 passenger journeys per day.
