Colinton Community Compost in line for recycling award

The Council has been shortlisted for the Local Authority Partnership Award at this year’s More Than Recycling 2010 Awards, for work with Colinton Community Compost.

Colinton Community Compost is a charitable organisation which offers a composting service to 530 homes in their local community.

The charity works with adults who have learning disabilities and provides a weekly collection of garden waste, collecting approximately 250 tonnes a year.

The group receive grant funding, with support from the Council and also receive a payment per tonne for carrying out the collection.

The More Than Recycling 2010 Awards ceremony is organised by the Community Recycling Network for Scotland.
