Hey, why don't you take a bike!

Explore West Edinburgh on two wheels

Exploring Edinburgh by bike is the perfect activity to keep you, your family and friends entertained and healthier this summer.

Edinburgh’s old train network has been put to good use, creating so many different traffic-free paths and by combining with quieter roads – there is something for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

Cyclestreets.net can also suggest quieter or faster routes for you to get from A to B depending on your preference.

An afternoon can easily be enjoyed with a cycle to Dalmeny Estate, overlooking the Firth of Forth. Follow the National Cycle Network, which begins at Haymarket and runs through Roseburn, to Cramond Bridge. Then jump onto route 66, following the signs to Queensferry via Dalmeny Park. The Park is open to the public and Dalmeny House,

the grand family home of the Earls of Rosebery, may be visited Sunday, Monday and Tuesday until 28 July. Catch the train home, you’ve earned it!
