New site is a hit
Redesigned council website visited by 18,000 people on its first day
Our new-look website is now well and truly up and running.
More than 18,000 people used the site on 15 September - its first day - which is up by nearly 50 per cent on the same time the week before on the old site.
Thanks to everyone who has given us feedback on the site so far. Some of the comments so far were that the site is “so much easier to use” and “fabulous for people seeking help, especially for housing and personal health problems”.
Please get in touch with us via our new “comment on this page” function if you come across any problems such as broken links or if you have ideas for content you would like to see.
We have been working hard to fix any issues and to identify further improvements that can be made.
We know that more and more people want to do their business with us online, at a time and place that suits them. During the last two weeks of September almost 170,000 people used our site.
We will continue to strive to make the website work better for you.
In the near future, look out for:
Council papers online - by the New Year this part of the site will have been improved and will be much easier to use.
Payments - it should now be easier and quicker to use our payments functions and you can also see your previous transactions.
Blogs and forums - you will see more blogs and online forums on topical subjects.
Forms - we will continue to put up more of our online forms on the website to allow you to do business with us when it suits you.
Manage your accounts online
If you pay Council tax, receive benefits, or are a business paying Non-Domestic Rates, you can now view your accounts online, free of charge.
Landlords can now also access information about Housing Benefit payments made to them in respect of their tenants.
Depending upon which service you access, you’ll be able to view:
- a full statement of your account
- a list of your payments
- the instalments to be paid
- discount or exemption details
- benefit entitlement calculations
- your bills, benefit letters and payment schedules.
