Clipper crew on course

The city’s fully sponsored boat, Edinburgh Inspiring Capital, is sailing around the world as part of The Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race.

The race sees up to 500 people experience the challenge of a lifetime. They will travel over 40,000 miles of ocean on ten 68-ft yachts, skippered by multi-national crews from all walks of life.

The crew is currently traversing the Southern Ocean en route to Australia and New Zealand.

Edinburgh’s clipper team includes transplant patients who will act as worldwide ambassadors promoting organ donation.

This is the second time Edinburgh has taken part in the Clipper race.

Their inaugural entry to the race in 2009-10 brought worldwide media coverage worth more than £10 million to the city.
