20MPH Scheme For Grange Area
Encouraging more journeys by foot and bicycle
The Partnership is keen to encourage more journeys by foot and bicycle.
The introduction of a 20mph limit, without the use of speed humps will cut vehicle speeds, making streets safer for everyone.
Following consultation, the Council’s Transport, Infrastructure and Environment Committee decided on the areas to be included.
Most of the residential streets between Morningside, The Meadows, Holyrood Park and Blackford Hill will have a 20mph speed limit.
Some short cul-de-sacs adjoining the 30mph roads will also be left unchanged, minimising the need for additional signage.
Signs will be put up from January 2012 and will all be in place across the pilot area by the end of March, when the new limits come into effect.
We do not expect any disruption during the short construction phase.
The following areas will retain their current 30mph limit:
- Esslemont Rd
- West Mains Rd
- Blackford Ave
- Marchmont Rd
- Church Hill
- Beaufort Rd
- Grange Rd
- Strathearn Rd
- Strathearn Place
- Kilgraston Rd
- Sections of Oswald Rd and Grange Loan linking to Kilgraston Rd
- The south section of Greenhill Gardens
